But that's okay because I have said nearly the same things about Souter, Sotamayer, Gingsburg, and Thurgood Marshall among others. That's the wonderful thing about the United States Constitution. People do have a choice even if it takes quite a few years for that choice to be heard and for change to occur.

Which reminds me of an old saying about the Constitution which I think could be aptly applied to the recent Supreme Court decision: There are three types of people...those who are for it, those who are against it, and those who have studied and read it.

I am surprised by all the venom and hatred and violent talk emanating from the left. Okay, I'm not really surprised; people are who they are and act accordingly. But, it's not as if a woman's right to an abortion has suddenly come to an end. States are now able to set their own laws regulating the practice.

Which leads me to this: Democrats/liberals are in charge of the House, Senate, and Presidency and have been for the past 18 months. I'm surprised the Democrats haven't tried to codify Roe vs Wade or to at least start the Amendment process. Okay, I'm not really surprised; it's much easier to spread venom, hatred, and violence than to actually govern.
Unless you have been living under a rock, you'd notice the violence, and the talk of civil war etc has been coming from the right with some intensity, and increasingly so for a while now. All the griping about the angry left is just projection from a segment of people who think a coded phrase for saying "Fuck Joe Biden," is hilarious and that January 6th traitors are patriots. If you really wanted to be sincere you'd compare Trump's rhetoric to statement's Joe Biden makes and see who spews more venom.

Point taken, however, the political hypocrisy has been going on for more than a little while. I'll also set forth that the intensity of today's political anger stems from Harry Reid's tenure as Senate leader and Barack Obama's tacit consent. I also contend--as do many others--that the big city riots in the summer of 2020 led to the anger exhibited on January 6. I'm not condoning January 6 and I'm not a Trump fan; however, the failure of Democrat leaders and the media to condemn the riots both then and now smacks of hypocrisy. Democrats thought Robert Deniro's "Fuck You, Trump" at the oscars was hilarious. Let's Go Brandon is the left's bastard child.

I disagree politically with the other conservatives members of the court, but I don't think they're corrupt.

I also think he's a piece of shit because of his calculated invitation in his opinion for others to now challenge the right for same-sex marriage. He didn't have to put that in his opinion, but he did because he wanted to give a nod to those wishing to undo the recent progress made to LGBQT rights that the SC was now open and ready for business and that nothing is off the table. Yeah, I stand by my piece of shit comment.
Why wasn't the left and the media up in arms over Justice Gingsburg's refusal to recuse herself from cases in which her husband was one of the lawyers?

If one wants to talk conflicts of interest and the Supreme Court, then one surely has to wonder why Justice Breyer didn't recuse himself in 2005 from hearing arguments--and writing the majority opinion--for US v Booke? The case dealt with federal sentencing guidelines which were written under Breyer's supervision when he worked for the Clinton administration.

Oh, and then there's Jutice Kagan's failure to recuse herself from the Obamacare arguments even though she served as President Obama's soliciter general and helped formulate the administration's legal arguments.

I'm not saying that only the left is guilty of political hypocrisy. I'm only pointing out that the Democrats and the media have long ignored actions and behaviors that they now label corrupt where the Thomases are concerned.

That's some convenient mythology right there. You must've slept through the Clinton years when Jesse Helms told him he'd better wear a bullet proof vest when he visited North Carolina. The right has an industry that's driven by this venom. Talk radio is almost an exclusively convservatie/Trumpist endevour.

Maybe you forgot about the obsession Trump and others had about Obama not being born in America. Or Ted Nugent calling Obama a subhuman mongrel and sharing that he wanted to kill him.

What drove this rhetoric up so high right now though? Trump bringing Alex Jones and fascistic groups like the Proud Boys and Oathkeepers into the embrace of the GOP, and propping up Qanon horseshit (which by the way, there are more Qanon people getting elected and on ballots).

And no, Let's Go Brandon is Trumpism. That schlocky unfunny, edgelordian verse is the sole property of MAGA America. To say otherwise is to infer rightists are incapable of being accountable for their actions.

Same. Just got back tonight and I feel like I missed a lot. This always seems to happen.

I missed the whole OJ and the white bronco while I was hiking Mt Whitney. I felt like I had missed a cultural landmark.

No mythology about it. You'll note that I said--and I stand by my words--"the intensity of today's political anger." Trump is a result of Harry Reid and Barack Obama. And please, Let's Go Brandon is not a Trumpism. Check your facts.

I know what you said. It's still inaccurate. And I know the origins of Let's God Brandon. I'm not sure how that would be anything else or why you'd try to assert such a thing.

Out of curiosity, in your opinion is anyone actively hostile to the Democratic Party Trumpism?

Oh please. As if talk radio and Fox News hasn’t been fomenting the right’s worst tendencies for at least a generation. Trump is the natural distillation of all those years of right wing grievances. If Obama caused anything with Trump’s rise, it was just a helping of racism to the mix.

What is with your constant efforts to mitigate criticisms of Trump/GOP? What is your point here? There isn't a parallel to Trump on the other side.

Why not JL? It's a pretty frequent pattern. The both sidesism stuff doesn't hold up any more.
