    I also think that for a long time political elites have sought to delegitimize our political institutions when things don't go their way. Now, in my analysis this is more a bottom up response and they have just been throwing the masses the red meat they want to hear but as folks lose faith in the system they will always look for a savior in the political realm-and autocrats are always the first to fill that void.

    I think there are a lot of trends conspiring against continuing the base culture necessary for democracy and individual freedom to flourish.
