  • The Deseret News Goes National

Apparently the Desert News has decided that they are going to go big or go home. Clark Gilbert, CEO of Deseret News, says they'll be staking out the territory between Sean Hannity and the New York Times in an attempt to launch a national edition of the Deseret News. They are also trying to move away from being an explicitly Mormon newspaper, seeking to more broadly appeal to people of all faiths. You can check out their homepage at http://national.deseretnews.com/.

The page has a USA Today look to it and has sections dedicated to Family, Faith, Education, Culture, Causes, and Moneywise. So far, the content seems a little light but I'm intrigued. I'll be checking in periodically to see if the content can measure up.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Sounds like they are trying to corner the Salt Lake market first.
