    It seems unlikely to me that Ukraine could join NATO until after the war is over. Russia will make membership for Ukraine a deal breaker for any official peace settlement. Because of that, I don't think there will be any lasting peace moving forward. Even if the scale of the war ever diminishes, Russia will stay engaged, even if on a small scale so that a Ukraine NATO membership would be too high an escalation with a nuclear power.

    But why are we dragging our feet on sending military aid to Ukraine? The degradation of Russia's military assets alone is worth the investment. It's pennies on the dollar.
