Oh, and I love how in that picture of the Aztec they've got it in front of some estate in southern california. Like anyone with money would even sit in that car, let alone own it. I'm sure they did not know Pontiac was doing a photo shoot on their driveway or they would have called the police.
After some thought, I've decided the house in the background in the picture is Tuscan as opposed to Spanish. Spanish-Mexican-AZTEC- that was the marketing folks' intent at GM. Yet another failure associated with that travesty of a car.

I know this isn't exactly new and it's been said before- but the success of Toyota and Honda as opposed to the failure of GM and Chrysler can be boiled down to the fact that Toyota and Honda are run by guys that come up through the engineering and R&D departments and GM and Chrysler are run by guys from marketing and finance. The results are evident.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

There is some sure truth to this statement.

It finally looks like GM, Chrysler, Ford, etc.... Are finally going to have to do what other companies have done to survive, and that is find out exactly what product or service you have that you are really good at, and concentrate on being the best at offeriing it.

I have alwyas laughed that you could buy one name brand car from Chevy, and walk across the street and buy almost the exact same car from Olds. What is wrong with this picture?

GM, etc... will be better off in the long run by feeling the crush right now, and getting rid of the dead weight, and making cars that people want, for a price they can afford.
Let's get on with the gettin' on....
