Crazy but correct.Originally posted by scottie View PostIs that really possible? or are you saying there's serious flooding going on?

Back in my consulting days I did some work in the area. Worked on the Blanco and San Marcos. Funny enough, when we first got the contract in 2000, it was to study the effects of drought on the Edwards Aquifer. Seems like as soon as we started work, it rained significantly above average for the next three years.

It's been raining for 3 straight weeks. We drove from Austin to San Antonio last night and the rain was out of control intense. Never been in anything like it before. The Blanco river is 30 feet above flood stage. Insane stuff.

We've gotten it as well. Woke up this morning to tornado warnings, which I obviously ignored so I could get more sleep. Memorial Day is supposed to be constant rainOriginally posted by LiveCoug View PostWe are supposedly on year 5 of drought in San Antonio, but my heavens, the rains won't stop.

Good idea:Originally posted by Donuthole View PostIt's a wall, dude. I was feeling bad about how it looked until I saw the fence at EJ's new house.Originally posted by Walter SobchakThat fence though.

In all seriousness, we'll probably do something to touch it up cosmetically, but not until we put in a pool.

Oh, and the grass looks good. How long does it take to mow? 2 minutes?

Actually, I like the aged cedar look. I'm not a fan of vinyl as it looks barbieish. I do like stone, but it's expensive.
The new home will need a new fence soon. Thankfully a guy in my ward does fences. I built the fence in our Utah home (dug all 33 post holes by hand) but I'm old enough to just pay someone to do it now.

More like great news.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostI wonder if the goats will have much to eat this summer... apparently the lawn mower at the LA Temple has been laid off:

but the good news is DH has some green grass in his backyard.
We discussed this, but yes. Otherwise I would not have put those little wings beyond the concrete patio.Originally posted by falafel View PostWas the concrete border already there?
Fescue from Valley Sod. $0.43 sq. ft. I've had good luck with them in the past.Originally posted by Dwight Schr-ute View PostDude. I've got great news. You can now make $1,500 on that stuff! http://www.snwa.com/rebates/wsl.html
Seriously though. What kind did you put in? Curious what you paid/sq foot. There may be some turf in my near future.
As for the rebate, I've got about 800 sq ft in the front I'll cash in when we get around to putting in a pool in back, as the process will trash my front yard.
Thats the plan this fall. Luckily those neighbors live in CA and only come up for a weekend ever other month or so. But yeah, definitely need some more privacy. Until then, they have a nice view of all the water I'm stealing from their other house.Originally posted by Nakoma View PostNice addition. Now you need to plant a row of trees along the back fence like the one in the far corner. Your neighbor has too good of a view into your backyard.

El nino looking even more certain.
http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/201...nia-this-year/
Climate experts say El Nino is growing stronger and could bring drought-busting wet weather to California this year. While the ocean condition is nearly guaranteed, rainfall doesn’t always follow the sea temperature increase.
On Thursday, scientists at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) said chances for El Nino this summer are close to 100 percent, with simulations suggesting by December, it could exceed the devastating 1997-1998 event that brought widespread flooding and hurricane-force winds to most of California.
