But I thought Universities were bastions of free speech and tolerance

I think there's more to this story. I just don't see how some Portugese guy from Mozambique calling himself a White African American would earn the type of outrage that's been attributed to this medical and dental college and the students. This apparently isn't a school with an undergraduate program, so he's just dealing with medical and dental students. I just don't see the typical medical or dental student getting totally worked up about this guy calling himself an African American.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Didn't they say the school was in NJ? I think that could explain a lot.

Good grief, we ever get New Jersey jokes on CUF. Enough already. If New Jersey does indeed suck as badly as we've been told then we don't need the constant reminder, the 'truth' has been ingrained in our culture to the point where SLC Mormons feel obliged to crack jokes.

I may be mistaken, but I think Killer was born and raised in New Jersey.
