  • Deseret Industries no longer hiring people for 40 hours thanks to obomocare

Now I guess DI will have to hire people for less than 30 hours so they don't have to give benefits. Or is it to be able to let more people go through the program? I also heard now at least in Twin Fall's may be rumor but that people won't volunteer at DI anymore. Even if you go there for a few hours will get paid. So much for Elder's Quorum trips to the di. Maybe they still take volunteer labor.

DI's goal is to get people out of there. If every DI followed suit then I think year max is what you are supposed to do. Some people have worked longer though. Of course you are supposed to hear career goal's and help people with job hunting, behavior and the like. In Rexburg a few people worked over a year and many baptized members did not have temple recommends and go to church. I would think that about 75 percent of the people there could easily work at other places, most had a hard time finding jobs. There are times though that di is shorthanded. That is a good thing as it means the economy is good if DI is looking for workers.

IN Rexburg I was on receiving dock all but first three days I worked there. Never requested change let supervisors do it. They put job listings on office wall and people would inform you of major job's going on. Pay you to get interviewed or look for work elsewhere. A few people worked with businesses in town. Went to a few employee etiquette classes and heard training in morning meeting before work started. A few evaluations too. But for most part after meeting did job didn't interact much with job coaches, and could do same work elsewhere. Employment skills I learned there what it is like to work around a lot of strange people. Employers and employees don't always think they are doing things eye to eye. Favorite part leaving.

Like the principle of the organization good it gives jobs to some people. But my story will not make it in Ensign or on provident living website. And of course people know better than to ask about my experience in 5th Sunday or Elder's quorum meetings. I definitely tried to avoid going back to buy things during shift I worked at. No desire to see some people. Tried to keep it not public I was leaving with some people. One guy wanted me to get date and go with him on date with lady old enough to be my date's mother. I took date to Ricks BBall game never went with him. He married that lady but they were divorced a few years later. Being nosy saw that on Post Register.

Knew one person that went to DI because he did not like the environment of Potato Warehouse. That is not what DI is for besides what I saw at Rexburg co workers not spiritual environment. Though one lady Lord told her to go to DI then told her to go to Artco studied it out. I did not go back to help train someone, like video has and have not set foot in one in years. Donate at church dropoff. Sometimes on Amazon. Obomocare keeps them from working 40 hours and it is not something I would want to work at again.

Grapevine, does your elders quorum take trips to the di? What did you mean by that?
      Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

One I am in has not for awhile though some will occasionally as Elders Quorum welfare service. If they don't take volunteer labor that won't be possible.

It does not bother me that they no longer get 40 hours, read d news comments though. May not be Obomocare but wanting to get more people trained. For Rexburg college town where many people worked there just getting through college and may have been shorthanded with staff, had 3 then 4 staff that is why training mainly done in morning devotional and a few classes taught by fellow trainees, Didn't have enough staff for coaches and mentors. Working less than 30 hours may also be reason to encourage people to get out of there. Only full time employees there now are staff wonder if less than 30 is result of obomocare.

Seen those new DI ads? Pretty humorous. The DI's page, "New Life for People" has links, as well as some nice stories of how DI has helped people get back on their feet.

            The website.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

All oboe playing Mormons should properly care for their woodwind.
