with whom I grew up is a militant homosexual who lives in LA. I don't talk politics with him because he is such a militant. He got upset with me and called me a bigot because I mentioned that going on the offensive against Mormons really won't help his cause.

Now with the court upholding the passing of Prop. 8, he's about ready to go on the warpath.

He posted on his facebook account that he "won't be stopped by an illegal simple majority vote."

I can understand that he's upset that the people of California didn't vote in his favor, but I'm not sure what he means by illegal. Illegal in that the proposition was illegal or that the vote was illegal?

Talking about to him could cost the friendship and because he and I grew up together, I really wouldn't want it to end.

Any ideas?

I believe that the gay folks believe that it is a constitutional right. Hence, in their interpretation both the Prop 8 vote and the ruling of the CA Supreme Court are a "tyranny of the majority."

I think when addressing the issue with him you should stick to the tried and true line that no man can deny....Just utter "boobs are in!"

1. If trying to rationally discuss your viewpoint about this issue costs your friendship, then it wasn't much of a friendship to begin with.

2. If you really want to preserve your friendship, then talk about any of an infinity of other topics.

I saw him pull the trigger and saw Bambi drop, but didn't go over to the kill. What happens in the forest stays in the forest.
