The shooting happened on a couple of weeks ago, and I'm sure many people have heard about this already. This happened very close to my sister's house in Draper early on a Sunday morning and they asked everyone to stay inside because they thought there additional shooters.

The officer, Derek Johnson was two years behind me in high school, a friend of my younger sister. I also knew the woman in the car who was shot by her meth-head partner. I went to middle school and high school with her, although I would never have recognized her based on the photos. She's apparently gone through hell since high school.

As he drove up, Johnson, 32, was "ambushed" by the man in a silver Volvo, who also shot the 34-year-old woman with him, Roberts said. As Johnson drove from the area, the man continued shooting, and Johnson crashed into a tree three blocks north, at about 12900 S. Fort St., the chief added.
"[He] was never able to return fire," Roberts said.
