You're actually pretty funny when you aren't being a complete a-hole....so basically like 5% of the time. --Art Vandelay Almost everything you post is snarky, smug, condescending, or just downright mean-spirited. --Jeffrey Lebowski
Anyone can make war, but only the most courageous can make peace. --President Donald J. Trump You furnish the pictures, and I’ll furnish the war. --William Randolph Hearst
I guess I'll be taking then long way to Baker Lake for the next few years. Thanks Canadia!
MarkGrace, Mount Vernon is north of Seattle about an hour I realize this means you've never heard of it.
I've been watching this thing on the news and don't even recognize that bridge. Is it right on I5? I drove to Vancouver just over a month ago and the thing doesn't even look familiar.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

It's north of Seattle, north of Everett even. The one phobia fear I have is stopping on a bridge. Feeling it sway and move, and thinking of falling into the water below, trapped in a car, having to swim to the surface, and having to swim to shore, having to walk home.
Regarding Dead Bodies on the Road. I've seen about 5 or 6 through the years, but the worst was seeing a woman get out of a Taxi and run into traffic getting struck and killed by an oncoming car. Her red high heeled shoes were still on the side of the road for three days after. The paper reported that she was being taken to a psychiatric hospital and she committed suicide by car to escape. I can still see those red shoes in my head, sitting side by side.

I used to work with a woman who grew up in Florida and who's grandmother was always worried about the same thing. She would tell us that before they could drive over a bridge her grandmother would make them roll down the windows and take off their seatbelts so that they could escape if they somehow ended up in the water. She would follow up the story with "Do you have ANY IDEA how many bridges there are in Florida?!? It took hours to get ANYWHERE!"

"I only know what I hear on the news." - Dear Leader
Yah the bridge is right on I5, I'd guess exit 220ish
Just saw a photo on the Seattle Times and recognized it. Last night when they were showing it on the news I keep wondering how in the world it could be on I5 since it looked so small. Guess I wasn't paying enough attention to realize they were just showing the bridge in one direction.

I've had that thought more than a few times given the number of bridges around here. Could you imagine the Aurora Bridge or that I5 portion between downtown and the U District collapsing under you? I've never really been stuck on the Aurora, but I've been on that I5 one when traffic is at a standstill and it starts shaking a little. It's a bit unsettling!

Especially considering the details about our decaying infrastructure that came out after the Minnesota I35 collapse.

As someone who works in the transportation industry mainly on bridges I can tell you the general public perception of the state of our infrastructure is not the reality. Yes it is aging but it is not in the state of disaster that is presented. As with most misinformation, the media is the main culprit.
