Canada is simply more welcoming to immigrants and refugees and doesn't make them come illegally. Also (more to the point and less tic), Canada doesn't have a border with a country where the wealth gap is big. There are plenty of illegal Americans in Canada, and vice versa. Canada's is a little lower currently.
Most of the Canadian oil bashing is coming in the US. All the politicians in power up there support keystone.

Bernie's wife appears to have managed that college like Chavez and Maduro ran Venezuela. I have zero confidence that Sanders, the left and the American population could never adopt Scandinavian level socialism and make it work like those small, homogenous countries.
It wouldn't be Venezuela, but it also wouldn't be Sweden. It would be closer to Greece than Sweden.
Btw, there's a real humanitarian crisis in Venezuela now. There's a real possibility for civil war if Maduro doesn't step down.Part of it is based on academic grounds.
