So Mormon Chronicles had Bo Gritz Rex Rammell type people on it. Sin to send kids to public school's and no one listen's to prophet so they dropped it. Not paying tithing right some of them and sp does not allow them to speak on certain social issues. Someone who goes by name of Ezra Taylor there and on facebook forefront of articles. Said JS preached universal salvation. When I said Lucifer's plan was not forced righteousness but universal salvation.

First things first - there was no "Lucifer's Plan" Two plans were not presented. There was God's plan or rebellion. One third of the Host of Heaven chose rebellion. It may seem like a minor sticking point, but it really makes a difference, especially to those who are really figuring out whether they have a testimony or not. The idea of two plans flies in the face of God's modus operandi and confuses a lot of issues...

Second - in the modern church - after about 1930 - the only major time I can think of where the church didn't ask members to follow the law is in the current situation with illegal aliens in the states. Even saints behind the Iron Curtain were told to stay there - and that obedience allowed the Church to work with Eastern European governments - especially East Germany - to allow Saints to be able to travel to the West to go to the Swiss Temple for their endowments and sealings. And when East German saints traveled to the West for temple trips, they were told absolutely NOT to defect - for doing so would jeopardize the ability of other saints to get permission to travel to the temple. Eventually, it was this compliance to East German law that allowed for the Dresden Temple to be built - before The Wall came down. I was on my mission when it happened and it was truly a miracle - and, parenthetically, President Monson had a whole lot to do with it. To show how important going back/not defecting was - a brother of a guy in my first city had defected after a trip to the Swiss Temple in 1983 or early 1984 (about a year before I got there). The church took it so seriously that they said they would excommunicate him if he didn't return to East Germany - so he returned. He spent a little time in East German prison for it, but not much. And it appears that his almost-defection didn't have too bad of an impact on the church's relationship with the East German government...

Anyway - the whole illegal immigrant thing is one of the only things in the modern church where they're knowingly looking the other way on blatant law-breaking. That and Harry Reid's real estate deals of course...
