Get those V8 pickups while you can.

Get ready for lightweight, underpowered, crappy, unsafe cars. Just like the 80's. But this time, no loophole for trucks and SUV's. 27 MPG for light trucks? Sorry, diesels and hybrids won't cut it.

I know, many will cheer. It's a liberal fantasy to turn us into Europe. Everyone driving small POS cars? Check. Our elected king has decided this is what's best for us. Hell, apparently he doesn't even need congress anymore since the EPA has deemed CO2 a pollutant.

Any conservatives who voted for this little dictator willing to admit buyers remorse yet?

I have more buyers remorse for my Ram 1500. Twelve mpg (seriously) will do that to a guy.

Yes! Conservatives, go out and stockpile gas hogs and ammo. Even if future gasoline is guarded by roving packs of motorcycle gangs, you will be able to disassemble your Hummers and Rams and use them as makeshift armor. In the meantime your stockpiling will be good for the economy.

I already have my gas hog in the 4x4 F-150 Supercrew variety, and plenty of ammo. I have a co-worker that is doing my reloading for me, at no cost.

As demand for gasoline declines, the price will go down, making it affordable to drive the gas guzzlers, increasing demand for gas guzzlers, driving the price for gus guzzlers up.

My advice: go invest in some 2009 and older gas guzzlers. They'll worth their weight in gold in only a few years.

I'm pretty sure your reasoning here is backwards.

If everyone owns a Prius, we will consume less gasoline on the whole. This means that there will be less demand. This means that there will be less production. But the cost of maintaining and using the infrastructure for production will remain the same (they don't shrink the refinery). Those costs will decrease somewhat, since there will be fewer ships and trucks and such, but I would imagine that a great deal of the cost of running a refinery is fixed, regardless the output.

So the price of gas will go up. And don't forget price fixing. The petroleum industries up and down and left and right have been notorious price fixers. If they know that in the past people only started to curb their consumption when gas hit $5/gallon, they will figure out how to keep the cost of gas very high.

No, MBN is correct. The less the demand, the lower the price.

And where is your proof of price fixing?

Hey Greenspan, you figure out what an externality is yet?

As for price fixing, you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

You are 2nd only to SU in being a condescending asshole on this board.

You said that price fixing is there. Prove it.

"We" have decided you don't really need a boat. I mean it's nice and all, but for the sake of the community, sacrifices will have to be made. Sorry, bud.
