I just realized that the Angel Moroni blowing his horn looks suspiciously like SU in a bathrobe, getting ready to submit a post about BYU or the Church.
Returning to the topic at hand, has Trump walked back his 2012 tweets, which he sent when it looked like Obama was going to lose the popular vote but win the electoral college? I recall the tweets called the electoral college a sham, a travesty, a disaster for democracy, etc., and that a revolution was needed to eliminate the college. I assume he has remained true to his beliefs.
Edit: I went back and found some of them, including "Let's fight like hell and stop this great and disgusting injustice! The world is laughing at us," and "The phoney electoral college made a laughingstock out of our nation. The loser one [sic]!"
Utah should be more embarrassed 0f the 27.5% of electorate who voted for Mike Lee's opponent. Seriously, a thirty year-old with a high school education and no political experience and 12 years of bagging groceries.
Hahaha, I almost voted for Mike Lee, but in the end I voted for one of more unqualified major candidates I can remember in my life. I voted for Herbert (I'm not a huge fan) for governor though. I wanted to give a mandate when dealing with the legislature, plus Spencer Cox is an awesome Lt. Gov.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
They did a poll a couple of days ago looking at the last elections candidates compared to the candidates of this election.
Obama beats Trump by 12%. Romney beats Hillary by 10%.
Sure - I get that the polls all had Hillary leading against Trump too. But I'm kind of buying that a guy with as little baggage as Romney could curb stomp Hillary.
Heck - Romney lost the election even though more people voted for him than voted for Trump. This was about Hillary not exciting anyone. If she had the kind of turnout that Obama did, she would be president. No one was buying the "vote for her to continue my legacy" Obama was selling.
That's the whole point. The polls were shit. We all should have listened to HFN. Trump would have done to Romney what he did to every other R candidate. He would have given him a not-so-catchy but pretty accurate nickname and Trump and the WWC would have run him off the ticket.

We had my several of my family over for dinner on Saturday. I would describe all of them as "active LDS." After eating and after my parents left (no one wanted to have a political discussion with my mom) we talked about the election and who people were going to choose. It broke down as 30/30/40 (C/T/M).

No - I think you missed the point. I'm not talking about Romney versus Trump. I'm talking Romney versus Hillary.
The whole point is that no one was super excited about either of these candidates. Except for the crazies from each party, I guess. Somehow they both ended up on the ticket in the end, but if you put any other losing candidate up against them (instead of putting them up against each other) the loser becomes a winner.
Trump didn't win because he got a bunch of votes and destroyed Hillary. He got fewer votes than last election's loser. Let that sink in. Fewer. Votes. Than. The. Loser. Hillary was just that much LESS inspiring.
I'm guessing that if Biden had taken Hillary's place, he would be president. Wouldn't surprise me if Sanders would've won either - at least he had a group of people energized and excited to vote FOR something, instead of AGAINST someone. Because that was the majority of voters for Hillary - they were voting against Trump, not for her.

I would bet that Sanders could have pulled it off against Trump. Some of those rust belt states would have seriously considered him. And although I would have vastly preferred Biden over Clinton, in the end he played the same role, the anti-Trump. He's just not exciting, and voters of the last couple of elections needed exciting.

And my point is that Romney would never have made it through the primary to go up against Hillary. You can't just swap him out for Trump. There's this whole process, see.
And you're kidding yourself if you think Romney would have excited people. He's the antitheses of excitement. See 2008 and 2012.

Agreed. For some strange reason, when I read "excitement", I somehow read "excrement."

Good grief Millennials are taking this hard. My upstairs neighbors are nearly in tears and had some very despondent posts this morning. Everyone at work was in a daze and the city in general seems like the energy has been sucked out of it.

It will be ok unless somehow Trump is allowed to follow through on his radical anti-trade stuff. If that happens, all bets are off and the economy will surely crash hard. Ironically, that's the point many pro-Bernie millennials agree with him on.
