Their ilk would have been angry at the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Brown v. Board, etc., and they certainly don't celebrate those events now. But LGBTQ civil rights have pushed them over the edge.

I think the unprecedented depth of negative emotion and invective directed at Hillary (who, I maintain, is demonastrably about the same as about all the presidents we've had in our lifetime, substantively as well as truthfulness; inherently, the job does not attract straight shooters) is partly about her gender, partly about her dynastic facet, but mostly about these Americans who regard her and her party as entirely to blame for and even emblematic of the social progress--particularly civil rights for women and LGBTQ. Trump wouldn't be where he is if he hadn't vilified Mexicans, degraded women, and been instrumental in the his companies' active racial prejudice and the unjust charging and incarceration of young black men. This is a one issue election, and truly a referendum on American character.

So, I don't know why Trump's enemies or opponents are so delicate about this. But I'm going to say it. If you support Trump, you are a presumed bigot, racist and sexist. The burden of proof should be on you to convince the world otherwise, if you care.
I'm flabbergasted by those who Hillary is worse or even the same as Trump.

    • About Obama and ISIS: Obama has done exactly what the American people have wanted, for better or worse. Truman taught us that the president works for the people. PERIOD. Fuck the generals and the policy woks if the American people don't want foreign wars and entanglements. The best thing about Obama is his cold rationality--which stands as a stark contrast to what's going on in this election--and this is a prime example of it.

About ISIS as a threat, JL has it exactly right. ISIS is a bogeyman. Most the younger millennials couldn't tell what the Khmer Rouge is, and it will be the same with ISIS and the next generation. ISIS is losing territory and its army is wasting away, inexorably, and the people who ought to be doing the dirty work are doing it.

It's so ironic for Republicans to criticize Obama about ISIS, when ISIS is a creation of the Bush administration, which was an abject and humiliating failure at resisting the guerilla groups that emerged from the destruction of Iraq.

It's not complicated. People who say that are bad poeple.

You're reading too much into Trump's nomination. A third of the primary voters forced this outcome while the idiots at the RNC and mainstream candidates did some foolish things. In such a crowded field, the guy with the name recognition who appeals to the worst natures of the lower tier voters was able to make some headway. Meanwhile that asshole Jeb Bush used his money to destroy the other mainstream candidates that actually could have gained traction and coalesced the remainder of the primary voters.

The left also has a similar share of crazy voters. Trump is essentially the Al Sharpton of the GOP. The difference, as evidenced by the first batch of similarly emails from before the Democratic convention, is the DNC knows what they're doing and steered the nomination to Hillary and away from Sanders. I didn't regard the DNC as corrupt, far from it. They're smart and the RNC should take note
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Trump said today that his first act as president would be to sue all the women who have accused him of assault.

I'm not a Sharpton fan, but Trump is waaaay worse. There's no parallel for Trump in either party. He's in his own zip code when it comes to being a shitty person.

                      • I can't recall if this has been posted before, but it's always fun to see this nice summary of Trump contradicting himself. I especially like the Trump supporter at the very end.

This is known as the oxcoug apology. It's not inconsistent with what I said and I don't necessarily disagree with it. It's plausible. It's not inconsistent with Trump supporters being POS. Oxcoug, by the way, takes a back seat to no one in his hatred for Trump.

Very true. If one were to compile Ox's FB posts over the past year it would be quite the compendium of anti-Trump literature. But with Donald one has a target-rich environment in which to work.
