    Romney vs. Obama Prediction Thread

    I said before in the "Final Two" thread that I thought it was going to be 52-47 for Romney. That was back in the last part of June. Although I want to stick with that, I'm going to hedge it down a bit.

    Swing states include the following states: Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Nevada, Iowa Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

    Did I want to leave Pennsylvania and Michigan off this list? Yes I did, but RCP says they're still toss-ups. Does Romney have any chance with them? Well, Obama won Indiana in 2008, so I suppose it's possible.

    Here are my predictions:

    Romney|51
    Obama|48

    Electoral Votes --

    Romney|285
    Obama|253

    Swing States won --

    Romney|Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, New Hampshire, Iowa
    Obama|Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada

    Closest state -- Nevada.
    Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

    Here is my prediction...



    and we won't know who won until congress gets together in January and votes. I also predict that Pelosi will get up and walk out during the middle of it.

    Edit: Having Rmoney as president (voted in by the house) and Biden as VP (voted in by the senate) would be kind of interesting.

      My Republican brother and his wife moved to Nevada from Connecticut this summer. They'll make the difference in Nevada.

          I think Romney wins FL, VA, NC, CO, and maybe NH but falls up short. I also predict my life will continue just fine.

              I have already voted for President Obama, but I feel that Romney may win. That would make for extremely interesting watching when I tune in to MSNBC. Over the past many months, I haven't noticed any news reports of conservatives being outraged at the idea of a Mormon president, which seemed rather prevalent. If Romney wins, I hope he shows some real backbone and is not a mere puppet for the Republican party. It feels strange, asking God, in prayer, to bless Obama with victory, rather than cheering on in prayer a fellow Latter-day Saint.

                      Do you feel the GDP grow and unemployment drop faster under Obama and if the answer is yes why do you feel that?

                        I don't understand the GDP. The economy seems to be improving, but oh so slowly. Unemployment being under 8% doesn't seem all that great when it is at 7.9. Although I was raised Democrat by very liberal parents, I try to stay clear-minded rather than knee-jerk when thinking about politics. There are aspects of the Republican party that, exposed in this election process, repulse me, such as the un-American practice of voter suppression. I personally hate the idea of abortion, and yet I am pro-choice. As a radical queer, I reject what I see as the rampant homophobia of the Republican party. Hopefully, it would be impossible for a Romney presidency to reinstate Don't Ask, Don't Tell and the repugnant homophobia it enhanced. I find it extremely saddening that a Mormon candidate should, again and again, be so utterly dishonest. I want Latter-day Saints to be Good and True, naive as that may seem.

                          Thanks. I have enjoyed your posts, responses because I know you will call it as you see it.

                          I think it broadens my perspective if I understand where those I am inclined to disagree with, give me what I consider an honest answer as to where they are coming from.

                          I think all politicians are basically spinners and shifters (dishonest) and I am a Romney supporter not because he will be a good symbol of the average mormon. I will let BYU do that.

                          I am voting for him purely because I think he will be better for the economy. Again, thanks for your honest answer, which I expected you would do.

                              My guess is the status quo will continue. Obama will win, the Senate stays in the hands of the Democrats (maybe losing a 1 or 2 seat advantage) , and the House stays GOP.
