• This ought to be fun: Keith Olbermann takes off on Miss California

Disclaimers: I don't watch Keith Olbermann or O'Reilly, so I don't know if this is the kind of thing they do regularly. From what I have read, I also think Ms. Prejean is a terrible spokesperson for any serious political issue.

Having said that, I think this is one of the meanest bits I have ever seen on any prime-time show that purports to be about news and/or commentary:

And it goes on for over 4 minutes . . . . I first saw this on Instapundit, a favorite blog of mine. The author's a libertarian law professor named Glenn Reynolds, who supports gay marriage. He says
It’s stuff like this that makes all the “have you no decency, sir?” stuff from the left hard to swallow. Plus, “gay gynephobia?” There does seem to be a lot of misogyny coming out of the gay-marriage crowd lately. I don’t think it does them any credit, and if it were coming out of people who didn’t possess the Official Victim Sanction it would be denounced mercilessly by the usual chin-tuggers. Instead, as Gloria Feldt demonstrates, they’re joining right in.

Meanwhile, you probably can name Ms. Prejean, but can you name this year’s Miss USA?

Well, no, I can't.

I read where the Miss California pageant paid for her fake jubilees.

Even though I denounced the Golden State when B-1 Bob was voted out of office, on occasion a blind squirrel gets a nut!

I personally avowed to never care about social issues until I see some genuine conviction to fiscal conservativism. If Mitt didn't come across like such an uptight AP crying repentence about giving females a ride in your mission provided car or playing full court hoops on P-Day, he could be my mormon messiah!
Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!
-General George S. Patton

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Mitt was an AP and I can imagine him doing stuff like that. Then again, probably not. At heart, he's a generous-hearted man and so are all his sons. If you were an Annapolis grad you'd probably be more fair to him.

Olbermann is a complete waste of air time. It's amazing that he's still on the air - even at MSNBC. I've heard that Rachel Maddow has higher ratings.

That's bad...........really bad. The cede any moral high ground they had by attacking this woman so.

Pretty much. My schedule is such that either getting a smoker going for an all nighter or at work is about the only time I have for this sort of stuff. Someday we will get it fixed.

Wow, a couple of bitter old men attacking a beautiful young woman who simply answered a question honestly, however inarticulate. Hope they feel better about themselves.

Despite my frustration that he comes across like somebody offended by my critiques of Jenna Jameson on Cougarboard, I wanted the guy. One just needs some populist appeal with the modern day American polity. I hope he can find some way to be cool, I think if he went to the U he would be good to go and the dude would have the market cornered in both God and Mammon!

I hope I would never participate in this kind of treatment, but this is a war. This is sort of like Sherman's march to the sea.

Who is the Musto guy? Is he supposed to be funny? He reminds me of that Bruce Vilanch guy, everyone in entertainment thinks they are hilarious, and I can barley smile at things they say.

The Olbermann bits were fairly par for the course for him. He does that stuff quite a bit. I thought it was funny. The Musto stuff seemed excessive, though. His bit about her being a man? He disliked her earrings? What was that about? Did he think that was funny? He came across as bitter.

I don't feel bad for this woman, though. This is what happens when you want the spotlight. You run the risk. A la Super Chicken.....you knew the job was dangerous when you took it.

If more people went to the U, the world would be a better place. Then again, if MIke Huckabee had gone to the U,. he probably would be dead.

I would feel bad for her if she were being made to suffer simply for having an opinion about a controversial issue, but that's not what is happening now. She has moved on from victim status and has decided to ride her 15 minutes of fame - and she's not good at the spokesperson thing -- too young. So she's bringing a lot of this on herself. That does not excuse what Obermann and the other guy did. I wonder how his ratings are doing? I wish the public would reject guys like him and O'Reilly. Alas, too many people just eat stuff like this up.
