I have no idea what's going to happen. The world record holder is on the ground at mission control. After reading about Joe Kittinger, the guy that's held the record for about 50 years, I've concluded that he may actually be in the most interesting man in the world.

I just watched this. Around the 4 minute mark of freefall, he said his visor was fogging up. He sounded a little worried. Shortly afterward, he pulled his chute. He landed safely.
It sounds like he broke the record for highest jump, and maybe hit mach speed. But he probably didn't break the time of freefall record."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. That was awesome. I am surprised at the anxiety I felt while watching. My oldest was so scared she hid covered her eyes through most of it.
I can't imagine the stones it takes to step off that step. Bad ass."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Yeah, I was a little nervous watching it. But that was an awesome shot from the top, the moment he stepped off the capsule and fell.Originally posted by Surfah View PostThat was awesome. That was so crazy. That's a long, long, long way down. After he hit around 700 mph and started slowing down, you could see him spinning really fast. I was afraid he'd lose consciousness, but all of a sudden he stopped the spin, and I knew from that point that everything would be fine. And then as he reached the ground, he gently flared and touched down for an incredibly soft landing. Amazing, but also absolutely crazy.

Well, I was late to church.but it was worth it. That was really cool. He started spinning and when he regained control everyone cheered.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Yeah I thought maybe he had passed out when he was spinning. Pretty amazing that he could regain control while free falling at that speed. He was tumbling there pretty good there for a while.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostWell, I was late to church.but it was worth it. That was really cool. This was the only thing my students wanted to talk about this morning."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

The fact that a human, without mechanical propulsion, could travel faster than the speed of light is amazing.Originally posted by oxcoug View PostFairly certain that no single human feat in the history of the world is more bad ass.
