  • Lonely Planet: Waterboarding on only $1000 a day

    http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/Story?id=7471217&page=1

Looks like ABC has outed the brains behind Bush's waterboarding interrogation tactics.

The interesting thing about these 2 men.....they had zero interrogation experience when contracted by the CIA.

They were paid $1000 a day to supervise the waterboarding of Al Qaeda prisoners. Not a bad gig, I guess.
    Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

It appears that they indeed did have experience. The article states that they were involved with the military's SERE program in which waterboarding is one technique used to train military personnel et al on, among other things, being captured and interrogated by enemy forces.

They might not have had experience interrogating captured al Qai'da, but from the documents already released by Obama, it doesn't appear that was their primary role. As psychologists, they were probably advisors on the use of all the "enhanced techniques" and the effects they would have on those being interrogated. Based on their experience.
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I guess I just don't get the whole "torture" thing associated with the waterboarding, is the "waterboardee" ever in position to actually drown?

Can they actually drown while this is being performed?

I can understand them not shoving bamboo shoot under the findernails, breaking appendages, electrocuting them ala, lethal weapon style, but putting them in a controled situation where they cannot drown and scaring the shit out of them....... Hmmm.... Maybe I am missing something when I see the videos of the beheadings they carry out, and we are supposed to ask them if they will kindly tell us when they are going to attempt to kill the next few thousand Americans?
Let's get on with the gettin' on....

By persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned.
