Googling the Muhammed Movie brings up a 13-minute preview, essentially a bunch of clips. The movie is laughably bad. The protests make sense if the participants are serious students of film and are offended by the production values. It reminds me a bit of the The Book of Mormon Movie which funkified select movie theaters a few years ago.

Wow. I had heard it appeared low budget. That gives low budget a bad name.

From what I can gather, I strongly suspect al Qaeda used this video to stir up resentment and protests against the US. There are thousands of videos like this one but someone was pushing this into the mainstream.

I would guess we are seeing a new dynamic to al Qaeda. Stir up anger through the Internet and step back and watch things fly. I'd guess 9/11 was intentionally selected too.

Al Qaeda may have armed them with those rocket-propelled grenades that were used as well given I don't be the average Libyan citizen doesn't have that kind of stuff just laying around... or maybe they do? The question is if this potential attack was discussed in the intel meetings that Obama didn't bother attending that majority of the time.

              • Questioned at length about the causes of the anti-American violence, Carney insisted it was all about the movie. “The reason why there is unrest is because of the film,” he said at one point. “This is in response to the film.” At another moment, he said, “The cause of the unrest was a video.” At yet another, “These protests were in reaction to a video that had spread to the region.”

Despite Carney’s confident assertions, it became clear in the briefing that the administration does not really know that the most serious incident by far, the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others, was in fact the result of the video. (And it’s not at all clear that a full-length version of the film actually exists.) When ABC’s Jake Tapper pressed Carney on whether the Benghazi attack specifically was sparked by the movie, Carney responded, “We don’t know otherwise.”

It is one thing to say an event was caused by factor A, and it is another to say that you don’t know that the event was not caused by factor A. And the latter is the White House position on whether the video caused the Benghazi attack.

Tapper was skeptical. “The group around the Benghazi post was well armed,” he said. “It was a well-coordinated attack. Do you think it was a spontaneous protest against a movie?”

“Look, this is obviously under investigation,” Carney said.

                • The Obama administration needs to revisit its relationship with the word "obviously."

Cali doesn't think so. Again, it is amazing how our loyalties shape our perception. We are all guilty, but it is funny to watch Cali act like Obama and Co. have handled this well.

                    • Libyan president: 'No doubt' attack 'preplanned'

Libya President Mohamed Yousef El-Magariaf said Sunday that 50 arrests have been made in connection with last week's "preplanned" attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that left U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead.

"The way these perpetrators acted and moved -- I think we, and they're choosing the specific date for this so-called demonstration, I think we have no, this leaves us with no doubt that this was pre-planned, determined," Magariaf said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

"And you believe that this was the work of Al Qaeda, and you believe that it was led by foreigners. Is that what you’re telling us?" CBS host Bob Schieffer asked.

"It was planned, definitely. It was planned by foreigners, by people who entered the country a few months ago. And they were planning this criminal act since their arrival," Magariaf said.

                      • I buy that. This whole thing feels orchestrated, even the way the movie was used, almost like the terrorists and propagandists are on the same team.

Has somebody informed the Obama administration yet that this wasn't just a spontaneous and unplanned reaction to a video like they initially said?

                          • How soon will he receive a call from the Obama camp to retract this statement? Obama and his minions won't stand for this, as they've already decided that this was because of a movie. And Dear Leader is never wrong.

If true, then this is a major success for Al Qaida, to take out an Ambassador (the personal representative of the President). Questions should be raised about security procedures, our intelligence gathering capabilities (post enhanced interrogation techniques), our success against Al Qaida, and the wisdom of welcoming an "Arab Spring" which has seemingly created instability in the region and large swaths of land where such groups can operate unhindered (except for drones--Obama will cover the world with drones).

So, I'm hearing that our FBI team turned back to the U.S. because their security couldn't be assured in Benghazi. Maybe the Libyan President could help out a little with that.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
