  • Too fat to play football

    http://network.yardbarker.com/other_...fsrc=foxsports

12-year old boy ruled too heavy to play football. He is obese, weighing just under 300 lbs and in what comes as no surprise, he is from Texas.

Most of his peers weigh 100 lbs or so.

Should he play or should he go now? If your child were playing opposite this kid, would you fear for your child's safety?

I would worry about it if my 100 lbs kid were playing opposite him. I had a friend growing up who weighed about 200 lbs when I was about 110. We were playing football and he ended up falling on top of me and cracked my collar bone and it hurt like crazy for weeks.

That 300 lbs kid is going to fall on some poor kids legs and snap them like twigs.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Hmm... He doesn't look all that fat. You must be using anti-egg McMuffin Michelle Obama's standards when you call him obese.

I am sure there are a lot of select teams that would love to pick him up and may have the interest of some college scouts already. The bad news is this kid will be playing at a rival high school that is in our district.

How tall do you have to be to be 290 lbs and not obese? Don't kid yourself, 6 ft 290 at 12 years old is obese, no question about it. It is clearly a safety issue and playing football is not a right. Also the rules for the league state that is too old, I don't know why his mom thought bringing this to the media would help.

The real question is if he can move.

Yeah, it helps to know your rights. It sounds like the clash of values to me.

Though not this big, I got this crap when I played football as a kid. They let me play. I wasn't any good though, so I don't think anyone was really all that worried.

                what "crap?"

concerns from parents that a 300 pound kid might injure a 100 pound kid?

Half the kids on high school and college football teams would be obese using those silly charts.

As I mentioned before this kid should be playing on a select team and in a select league. I bet some select team picks him up before the end of the week and waves the fees for him.

There are leagues for concerned parents with 100 pound kids. I think they are called soccer leagues.

I agree that the charts can be silly, especially since they almost try and list me as overweight.

Are you saying a 300 pound 12 year old is not obese? It is not like he had anywhere close to less than 20% body fat.

I knew a kid that was about 280 and 12 years old. He is playing for Kansas now.

Edit: I watched the video again. This kid doesn't look obese. He only has one chin.
