Interesting discussion about Obama's running mate in 2012:

It didn't appear to work, try this:
          Hillary approached about VP slot?

It seems Obama is stuck with Biden for the long haul.

            • Matt Rhodes' recent memo:

Since the announcement in Norfolk, Virginia on Saturday:
              Online Fundraising
              Donations: 124,800+
              Amount: $10,157,947
              Average Donation: $81
              % New Donors: 68%
              http://www.mittromney.com/news/press...Matt%20Rhoades

Since they raised $3.5 million in the first 24 hours after the announcement, I'm not that impressed that they've brought in $6.6 million in the subsequent 7 or 8 days. The "New Donors" line item does seem interesting, though, since these people were holding back their wallets until after Ryan was announced.

                Hack.

BTW, did you really expect the rest of the week to keep pace with the first 24 hours?

Yeah, I just got around to the VP thread. Oh well.

Though I didn't expect the same pace for the rest of the week, I would be interested to see how the rest of the week compared to a typical week of online fundraising. Is it really that much compared to what they were already getting?

The percentage of new donors did look significant, though.

That's just online fundraising, that's a big number.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Any idea how it compares to what they were bringing in online in an average week prior to the VP announcement?

I read they raised the same amount online in a couple days after the announcement as they do in a month.

                              • I think she did a fine job. I'd quibble a bit with her analysis of the reasons for Evangelical opposition to Romney (and the church), and with her statement that Mormonism's roots are in American Protestantism, but there's plenty of room for disagreement on those finer points. She says she is not a spokesman for the church, and that is important, I think.
