  • Sometimes a bullet to the head just makes sense

This monster lives one city south of me. I know one is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but some frontier justice seems appropriate in this case. I'm struggling to think of a good reason he should live through tonight.

Edit: Quotes removed. Fair warning that article is very disturbing.

"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

This thread, at least the excerpts from the story should have a toxic label on it.

My wife and I talk a lot about being overprotective with our kids. We don't let them play out of our sight really. Not that we're always watching, but if they're out in front, they know not to go anywhere where I couldn't walk out there and see them. That's a far cry from the way I was raised where we were told to "go outside and play but be back for lunch." There's a park in our neighborhood they always ask to go to that's really only a block away and I don't let them go together or alone without one of us coming along. Lately, I'd been realizing that this is overkill and irrational and then of course I read about this arrest.

Does this change that it's irrational? Probably not, but this guy lives 15 minutes from us. It's hard to even imagine somebody that sick out there, and to find out he lives so close, well I doubt I'll loosen up anytime soon.

Better overprotected than in the claws of a monster like this. Just sayin'.

Well I'll be. That's a new one on me. Remember that story a few months ago about that guy who caught a predator molesting his daughter and beat him to death with his fists? Default response. These predators' kink is control and power they feel over the defenseless. I think if they're affirmatively diagnosed with this, there's no escape from custody, zero eligibility for parole- and hey let's not rule out euthanasia.

Based on what I've seen happen, the benefits from avoiding the life-long consequences of molestation far outweigh any negative consequences from over-protectiveness. I.e., resolve doubts in favor of protectiveness. I'm as convinced of this as I am of anything in life.

Follow up article today. The usual neighbors are shocked stuff. Says he's been an active blogger, chronicling their adoption of 2 kids recently.

Everyone, no matter how heinous or vile they might be, deserves a fair trial.

I don't see anyone saying otherwise here. I think people are asking if everyone deserves to live after they have their day in court.
