    To close for comfort..

    So some tourists got to close to an iceberg and a big chunk of it came crashing down and sent a big wave towards them...


    As I am wathcing this I noticed they tried to "outrun" the wave.. Was that the wises decision? Shouldn't they have pointed into the wave??

    I am not an expert so I am hoping some of you have better knowledge in this...

    His boat isn't swamped so it looks like he made the correct call.

    My decision would be predicated on my boat and its abilities. If I have a fast boat outrunning the wave may be the thing to do. One thing I do know is if I'm going to take on a wave like that it will be head on. There was far too much whitewater to let it hit you sideways.

      That is what I was thinking.. The video made me think he was sideways at first and then he tried to outrun it and got hit a little and the side and back of his boat. His engine looks like it is sputtering some afterwards a little but it looked like a close call.


      But while I watched it, I thought to myself.. You need to turn into this thing..

        That's gotta be a glacier, not an iceberg. Apparently whoever put the label on the video got it wrong. Even the comment that goes with the video calls it "the glacier just north of Ilulissat Greenland".
