There is a big protest going down the street under my window here in San Francisco. Loads of very excited people. They are using bullhorns to shout their message of unhappiness. Unfortunately, the bullhorns are so overdriven that I cant tell what they are saying. So all i hear is:

'blah blah blaaaaah blah!

followed by much cheering. This little chant is repeated over and over.

But it is a nice rhythm.

I've been working in downtown Denver for the past few months. At various times the OWS people or the SEIU people march through the streets for a few minutes banging drums and yelling. They usually end up outside one of the big bank buildings for about an hour and then they go home.

The other day they ended their march at one of the busiest intersections on Brodway. About 15 of their guys had orange safety vests on and they proceeded to stand in the crosswalk blocking traffic while the approximately 150-200 other protestors went to the middle of hte intersection and waved their signs. Police showed up and made them clear the intersection, but they blocked traffic about 3 more times before they finally dispersed for good, sometimes for 10 minutes or so. I was surprised none of the orange vests got arrested, but perhaps the police didn't because that's what the protestors wanted.

I know the SEIU in the intersection thought they were sticking it to the rich. But all I could think about were the cab drivers who got stuck in traffic on their way to the airport to get another fare. Or the struggling workers on the busses who were late to their jobs. Bravo, protestors. You really showed them.
