Since they were born they couldn't be held down. These misfit kids in these burned out towns. They have never played by the rules and it doesn't seem they care. Their nasty reputations will follow them everywhere.

Kids are getting worse because parents don't give kids consequences for their actions. Schools are not aloud to give consequences for there actions. This is the result.

That is a depressing, awful video. As the identities of the kids will somehow be made public, even if only locally, one can only hope that they will feel great shame and remorse. As a parent, I would be deeply concerned and saddened to see my child in such a video.

I have seen several comments about the elderly woman acting brave and trying her best to ignore the harassment. I wonder how much of her restraint was bravery and how much was simply terror and intimidation. In other words, this woman likely suffered far more than what we actually see via her inaction in the video.

I still have confidence in the Kids in America. Through church callings, I have seen really great youth that treat others well and that are well mannered, good people. I'd like to hope that they outnumber the savage rogues.

Agreed... Does anyone think these kids will be punished at all for this? Slap on the wrist and then turning them over to their parents is probably all that will happen. Unfortunately, the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree, so I don't expect the parents to do much...

On one of the cable news networks last night said the fund to help out the woman had risen to $380,000. As horrible as those kids were, that's a nice chunk of change.

What do you mean by burned out town? I haven't heard that term.

You certainly can't pass this off as kids being kids as I have heard some appallingly say so. On the other hand I am not sure I would refer to them as being "empty inside" (something like that) as Beck referred to them.

Thank goodness I am unfamiliar with this kind of cruelty coming from kids that age. If one of my children would have acted in such a manner, I would have had to have done some serious soul searching to see where my parenting skills had seriously failed.

That being said, I wouldn't have excused the kid and there would have been hell to pay.

It is up around $500 thousand now and Southwest is flying her and 8 other family members to Disneyland all expenses paid.

America is still the most compassionate country in the world if people are left to decide when and where to be compassionate. In Obama's world in this case the government could confiscate the funds and use them where they think it would be more beneficial.

This is the endgame when you elevate kids to equals with adults. Many kids in America know far more about their rights than their responsibilities. A couple decades ago, kids wouldn't have dared to gang up on an adult authority figure like that.

However, I also agree with DDD. The bad is often the mirror image of the good. So while the punk kids are worse than ever, the good ones are better than ever. I am beyond impressed with the youth in our branch. These are kids that come from far less than ideal family situations and are surrounded by poverty and social disfunction, but choose to be an influence for good in the world.
