As I understand it, the book about the moms was at Windridge Elementary.

It was not banned. It was simply held behind the counter and was checked out upon the request of the parents.

I think, in this case, the term "good old fashioned book banning" is probably inappropriate. Nobody banned the book from anywhere.

Cute that one of their examples of historical book banning in Davis County is the claim that some parents once complained about a required reading in High School and the book was later removed as a required reading. Those fascists!

I think it's a really good idea to focus on the semantics of the event (i.e. "banned" or otherwise) rather than the obvious homophobia causing the event.

What if books portraying Mormons in a positive light were relegated to the back of the counter? We're not even talking about books preaching or dealing with Mormon doctrine, just something that portrays a Mormon family as happy, decent people or decries the persecution of the early saints. Good idea. I'm sure none of those books exist. And there has never been a problem with rationalizing bullying (or marginalizing in any way) a certain "type" of person. So lets not address that.

The point I am trying to make is that I don't know the facts because the linked article was clearly biased and full of a lot of BS. I can't say whether this is homophobia or book banning because the only evidence of it is a dopey and unsubstantiated rant. If the author thinks book banning means what he describes in the article, there is no reason to take his word that what is occurring here is tantamount to book banning.
