Do the Bilderberg's run the world? Are they the real policy setters? Are they a secret cabal dedicated to the new world order? Or are they just an informal chat group of insanely wealthy and powerful people?

I really don't know. I do know that Bilderberg attendees are the elites, the power brokers of the west. They meet every year and in secret. Many, including David Rockefeller have openly called for "global governance" though I'm sure he'd classify it as a benevolent, rather than sinister proposition. It's easy to mock and ridicule those who have concerns with the Bilderbergs, but it's harder to ask if there's anything to it.

I find the lack of any curiosity by the media as to what goes on here puzzling and it only serves to reinforce in many peoples minds that there could be something sinister or just not quite above board about the whole thing.

My personal opinion, is that at a minimum, they are very influential in making policy decisions that are implemented in their own countries. That they don't want us to know what they talk about is troubling to me. Not sinister, but not transparent. I'm not a big fan of secrecy.

The reason it is private seems perfectly reasonable to me and they do tell us what they are talking about. Also, conspiracies that big are impossible.

I'd like to know what they talk about, I just don't hear much about it in the media. Pretty much a blackout in the mainstream media. Google just directs me to a bunch of fringe sites.

Good comments Venkman! The thing is, if they are discussing issues ranging from the adoption of the Euro to how to get people to have less children then it would be nice to see who is saying what and what their proposals entail. In the city I grew up in if three city counsel members decide to go fishing together they are not allowed to discuss anything on the city agenda due to open meetings laws. Yet at Bilderberg you have important politicians, media elite and bankers getting together and taking great pains to make sure the meeting details are kept quiet. Seems a bit odd to me.

As for social policy I would remind people that the notion of free choice is an illusion. Please read the book "Propaganda" by Edward Bernays the founder of modern public relations and advertising. It is a small elite that determine our values and our choices. I get rather annoyed at people who say the Church brainwashes people. The fact of the matter is that the saying "Choose you this day." means you put yourself on a course, like taking one train rather than another. Once on the train your choices are limited as to where you are going. If you are in the world the world molds you if you are in the church the church molds you -- that is life.

So if one believes that not going to church makes you free then you are sadly mistaken. All you do is trade one organization, one based on God's word, for another, one based on profit and social control.

Oh, as for the Bilderbergers I ran across this quote that should cause some to consider just how free they are in contemporary western society:

"We are grateful to The Washington Post, The New York Times, Time magazine, and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promise of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The super-national sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries." (David Rockefeller, Bilderberg 1991)

Right because when I said they do tell us what they talk about I meant they tell us what they talk about. I can see how that would be hilarious. Enjoy your conspiracy.

I think she has a difficult time saying anything.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Tell ya what...let's start off with a little background on Edward Bernays from a BBC documentary:

[ame="http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9167657690296627941"]Century of The Self. Episode One: Happiness Machines[/ame]

Again, you can follow the teachings of your religion or those of another entity (i.e. modern fake democratic governments) but no matter what you will be limiting your choices. Sorry, that is just life. Personally, I trust the teachings of the leaders of the LDS faith to have the best interests of humanity at heart rather than narcissistic self-serving politicians or media conglomerates (oligopolies) who see people as a means to extract profit).
