  • White House Correspondents’ Dinner

I just watched Jimmy Kimmel at the correspondents' dinner. There were some funny jokes. But it was nothing more than a comedy central roast. Not one but three fat jokes about Chris Christie to his face? This seems very unbecoming for a President to attend.

I see you are unfamiliar with this annual event.

Hi Jacob, in real life, DDD might say, "oh, you haven't seen that before? it's normally pretty funny but Kimmel went easy on Obama, for sure. It's customary to have a roast atmosphere and you can expect that a predictably liberal guy might single out a conservative in the room."

Can you believe (Democrat politician/celebrity/commentator) had the nerve to (say/do) (something benign that many people on the right have also done/said)? I am (repulsed/saddened/outraged/disgusted/furious) that (he/she) would (say/do) something so (repulsive/dishonest/revolting/immoral/unethical/evil)!

He's right. The president attends every year. It is a DC tradition and it is featured prominently in the news each year. It is surprising that a guy like you who seems to be pretty savvy about political issues wouldn't know that.

This was a classic moment where W went side-by-side with an impersonator:

Bush had a nice sense of humor.

I'm quite familiar with the annual event. But thanks for the update anyway.

The Christie joke was one among many. Just one of the most obviously inappropriate. There were many directed at the President himself and many democrats and media.

See, now you're just being like DDD. Petulant. Incapable of admitting error. Come on!

Great. So what is the point you are making with this thread? Obama should boycott the event out of a sense of dignity? All presidents should boycott it? Help me out.

Sorry. I will admit to whatever error it is you think I am guilty of.

I just thought people might enjoy a link to the correspondents dinner and I wanted to comment on how I thought it was inappropriate for the president to attend. This was obviously not an attack on Obama or any democrat. Just my $0.02. Apparently, I'm the only one among us who had this reaction to the jokes (which I admitted were, in large part, funny).
