The Scott Howell thing does make me laugh. I get that Utah Dems don't have a deep bench, but they keep trying to pull this off with the same cast of characters and it doesn't work. They tried re-running Bill Orton against Mike Leavitt in 2000, Scott Matheson Jr. against Huntsman in 2004 and now it's throwing up a couple also-rans against Hatch in 2012. Ted Wilson wasn't available? One of Frank Moss' kids?

They should nominate Frank Moss. A dead guy would perform just well in the election. Maybe better.

Didn't Hatch unseat Moss way back when? And wasn't one of Hatch's arguments that Moss had become a Washington fixture and we needed change?

Oh, I know he'll be fine in the primary. If Hatch needs to go it sure as hell isn't because he's too conservative. We nominated a great alternative to Hatch at the convention yesterday, Scott Howell. He's a great guy, lots of political and business experience, and he's a moderate. Of course he'd probably support the government insuring kids who can't afford it, so he won't do.

Great alternative in a normal world. That's not Utah, sadly for my demo friends

Seegmiller is in my parents ward, he's a good guy. I can't really see him as a congressman though.

The good news is that Utah could be sending Mia Love to Washington to represent the 4th District in November. That's pretty cool if you ask me. She would be the only black Republican woman in Congress.

Sure Matheson could win, but I think Romney will have massive coattails in Utah and that will help Love and other Republicans across the board (not that they need it in this state ).
