  • Shuttle Watch 2012

Just had the space shuttle fly over my building on its way to Dulles Airport to be retired at the Air and Space museum here in VA. It was pretty awesome.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Endeavour was just flown over downtown L.A. I'm forty-something floors up, and it seemed like I could reach out and touch it as it flew over City Hall and looped past the Hollywood sign. I hope some of you in SoCal got to see it; it was amazing.

So far no flyover here in Boise. I'll keep watch and update if anything changes.

No flyover in SLC either, though I doubt we'd have seen anything because of all the smog here.

Stupid mountains. Billions of years of the earth doing its thing and they have to choose here to form.

No smog, smoke from Idaho and not from the offensive dumpster fire last night.

Yeah, I guess it's more smoke than smog here as well. Still, stupid mountains!

Endeavor made a swing around downtown L.A. this morning. This was the view from the helipad on our building (aided by a pretty good lens).

Good points. The high amount of smoke in the air above the Treasure Valley probably forced NASA to call off any planned flyovers here.

This is cool. A lot of planning and work to move Endeavour 12 miles to its final resting place.

I would find this whole thread more interesting if we had or at least were working on a replacement for the shuttle. With the current state of things, the thread makes me sad.
