That's like the taco promotion at Lakers games. It always cracked me up that these fans who dropped a couple hundred bucks to watch the game chant "we want tacos."

The Nationals coupon code is NATS50. We've used it a couple times this summer. I checked and it seems like Papa John's runs this promotion in lots of cities with MLB teams.

    • Spoke with two different doctors over the weekend about Obamacare. One, a fertility doctor, is losing business because companies are dropping coverage for fertility treatments. The other, a back surgeon, claims he will simply retire when the more onerous parts of Obamacare kick in. Said he, "I'm too old to deal with that crap."

Just a few anecdotes to toss on the pile.

Full disclosure: I am not a patient of either man.

Well that does it. These two anecdotes from doctors you don't use were the last bits of proof needed. The ACA won't recover from this blow.

          Sarcasm certainly won't save it.

Are you sure? On the scale of "actual useful data" to "anecdotes of two doctors you don't pay for services", where would sarcasm fall? I'm betting just north of your anecdotes but still slightly below the level of "funny song lyrics about medicine."

For every tweak in the code that comes along, legions of accountants and lawyers go to work devising work-arounds, supporting an enormous tax planning industry.
If Obama gets a second term, I'd think all tax accountants would be elated. Think about all the new business he'll steer their way.

A fun read, if nothing else.

And here's some stuff on the origination clause. The section on the Supreme Court's enforcement is pretty devastating to an anti-Obamacare application:

                  • As an internet trained lawyer I struggle to follow many of the legal arguments on this site (thank heavens!) but I'm continually perplexed with the fact that the President can just simply say "we will just not implement that portion of the law right now" and Viola! the employer mandate is deferred. How can he do that when I thought it was only the legislative branch that has the power to do things like that. Are there any lawyers that can explain the legality of what Obama is doing in simple terms?

Obama doesn't give a rat's hiney about the Constitution.

The Congressional GOP needs to be prepared for the inevitable Obama administration and media (but I repeat myself) pushback when the subsidies in 36 states are outlawed and all the sob stories emerge. They need to formulate some kind of alternative healthcare bill, obviously not something as far-reaching as Obamacare, but something like a law that allows for insurance to be sold across state lines. They could also craft a bill that fixes the subsidy language but also contains some substantial tort reform (not only judgment limits, but loser pays) which I highly doubt Obama would sign. They can tell everyone they passed legislation giving everyone subsidies but Obama didn't sign it because he didn't want to upset tort lawyers.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

The intent was clearly to subsidze both state and federal exchanges, everyone knew that, and while I agree we should uphold a law as written it seems this should be an easy fix.

                              • That may be the compromise the GOP strikes to amend other parts.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.
