  • The evil that men do lives after them

Holy unspeakable hell. What an unfathomable offense against a pure, innocent little child.

As a father of 2 little girls, this breaks my heart. Best wishes to the victim's family, even though they don't read CUF and will never see this.

This kind of thing just pisses me off. I'd like those who oppose the death penalty to explain why it shouldn't happen in this case.

I have no opposition to the death penalty; I'd like her to be convicted first, taking all evidence and mental status into account before sentencing.

Fair enough; however, I'm one that believes that the mental state of someone like this should be determined by the psychologist who works for the prosecution. Forget the defense using one of their doctors.

It is absolutely gut wrenching. I have granddaughters, 6 in the 4-10 year old range. Too many images of innocent little children being abused by adults.

Did this kind of crap go on in all ages or is this a product of something in our culture over the latest period of time.

If anyone did anything to my little girl like that I wouldn't know what to do. I would have a few ideas though.

I don't like living in paranoia, but it's really hard to let your young ones play in the front yard or at a friend's house when you read stories like this.

My initial reaction would be total revenge. I would want to take that persons life in a painful and prolonged way. But know that I would then destroy the rest of my family without a daughter and a father/husband, I would choose to have the courts take care of it.

I have not and will never understand what it takes to take a child's life. Make no sense to me and it is the most cowardly of acts.

I used to feel bad that I look at everyone I don't know with a suspicious eye with regards to my kids. I don't feel bad anymore. I think one can be cautious without being paranoid, though it can be a fine line.

At times I have worried about my son's when I see these horrible stories and know they have young daughters. They have guns and know how to use them. I know what their initial response would be and I would hope they could control the anger to prevent even further tragedy.

The Puffy Check started going to pre-school recently, 2 days a week for 3 hours at a time. They have a wonderful time. It is a great school and Irvine is a well-regarded school system.

Yet I was still worried. You read these random stories about pre-schools that abuse children during the day and the kids are too small to really tell anyone about it. It was a big concern for me.

In researching pre-schools, I noticed that almost all of them require parental participation in the form of volunteerism. If your child attends, you are required to volunteer a minimum amount of hours each month. It is usually a very reasonable number....maybe 3-4 hours or so.

I wonder if some of that, in part, is a business decision intended to put parents' minds at ease. Every class session includes a volunteer parent in attendance that does not work for the school itself. I know it has helped me worry less about such things.

That movie was great. It also made me want to take a shower and forget all about it. I'll never watch it again. I had the same reaction with Mystic River and American History X.
