And what do you mean by "strike now". Again, provide some specifics please.

We don't know exactly where they are in development.

The CIA and Israeli Aman and Mossad have their ideas.

We know they are enriching Uranium, so we know where.

The Iranian's have some sophisticated air defense, and we can count on it being deployed heavily around those enrichment facilities and the coast with the Persian Gulf. There are several Iranian facilities capable of launching attack aircraft along the coast perimeter and in support of those nuclear development facilities.

The biggest problem for the Israeli's is going to be distance, and the fact that they are going to have to violate the airspace of at least a couple major Arab countries in order to get there and back... and even their refuel aircraft will need to be surrounded by Arab airspace.

If the US was to act from the Persian Gulf, AGM-88 HARM missiles would do wonders to disrupt the air defense systems of the Iranians. We would be able to establish temporary air superiority within the required window.

Then it's simply a matter of placing a few GBU-37 type (or the unpublicized better versions) on target.

Then everybody getting the hell out.

What evidence supports this?

Nuking Israel doesn't make sense. There are a lot of Muslims living within the fallout zone of Israel, and Islamic holy sights would glow in the dark for decades. Hawks have gotten a lot of mileage out of Iranian statements that Israel shouldn't exist, but it does not follow from that they will nuke Israel to bring about that end.

In Israel, surveys show that a majority oppose a solo Israeli attack on Iran without American military cooperation.

Retired Israeli military and intelligence leaders have advised against striking Iran, arguing that Israel doesn't have enough bomb shelters or gas masks to absorb a possible Iranian counterattack.
