What surprises me is how liberal so many of them are. Perhaps it has to do with their being surpressed like the Blacks. You have to hand it to them, for being surpressed, they are doing quite well for themselves. Did I mention Larry King.

I admire people who attract money. I remember when I first got into this business, we (Paine Webber) were offering a Movie Limited Partnership. A selling point was "look at the Jews involved in this, it is bound to make money". Of course that was what I thought and so I bought some for clients.

This was mid 80's and I wish I could remember the movies, but 6 of the 9 were legitimate big time movies with several blockbusters. All of them had cost reported at X and sales at Y which were much larger than X.

Good deal for my clients, right. Wrong, they lost 50%. With my mouth wide open I inquired all over, WHY??

I mentioned we had to win, we were in with the Jews. Then someone mentioned to me we were in with them, but on a different basis. The limited partnership absorbed all the costs, including all sorts of fee's to , which took huge chunks out of the revenue and left losses.

They have an unusual amount of influence and power for their numbers. You can either admire them for it or have ill feelings. Oftimes I have found they don't want you thinking either about them.
So we should back them unconditionally because because they have lots of money and influence? Gotcha.

I have no problem at all being allies with Israel. I just found it extremely odd that we would promise to stand by another country (with military backing) no matter what. Have we ever made that statement with another country? "Hey, you go and do whatever crazy thing you want, and we will support it." Do you think that is wise foreign policy?
Yeah I agree. I am ok with Israel being our ally, and I am ok in supporting them to a point, but to essentially give Israel carte blanche to act irresponsibly in its dealings with Palastine seems unwise despite the short-term political benefits it could reap for a presidential candidate.

Uh, I think you asked for an opinion on why? I don't think I commented on whether I think it is right or not.

Just for the record though, it really pissed me off years ago when we caught them spying on us.

No matter what might be the best choice of words, but I think you're taking it too literally. Obviously if Israel nukes Tehran we aren't going to back them.

I am not sure it is that obvious.

              JFK did.

But he was tapping Marylin Monroe at the time so I forgave him.

It pissed me off when I learned they had info on the attack that killed 200+ Marines in Beirut but kept it quiet hoping to crystallize US resolve against Arabs/militant muslims or least help in clouding the difference between the two.

I don't think it's so much about Israel ans that they are our only ally in the region. We can't afford to have a nuclear-armed Iran no matter what. So we are clearly on Israel's side on this. As far as I am concerned, Obama is acting like a big wuss with all this.

Mark my words. If Obama wins re-election the following will happen:

                  1. Iran will get nukes.
                  2. Terrorists will hit us with one.

                  Brilliant.

"thermonuclear holocaust" is a bit hyperbolic but my point stands.

Does anyone really doubt that if Iran becomes a nuclear power, terrorists are next? And that they would not hesitate to use one in the US?

I'm with you 100% on this. I think those who don't think Iran won't hesitate to use a nuke or sell one to terrorists to use are in serious denial.

I doubt it. I think they, the Iranians, are more rational wrt MAD than you give them credit. I also think getting one to the US and detonating it is likely very difficult.

But I would prefer to not find out if you are right.
