FOllowing these portests I have had several non-member friends commetn to me that they are disgusted and would be more likely to vote against gay marriage. This is really disappointing news, along with other reports of acts of vandalism against Prop 8 supporters.
As SU pointed out (on CG), this issue deals with matters of the most profound importance to people on both sides of the debate. Stripping people of their civil rights is about as serious a legal attack as can be made, which is why I give both my sympathy and meager support to those who would boycott Prop 8 supporters, seek to remove the church's tax exempt status, and attempt to brand support for Prop 8 as bigotry. These are all LEGAL political actions taken against an antagonistic political actor. Fair game.
But this envelope is a threat of violence that can not be tolerated.Comment
