  • Wolf in California

    http://www.latimes.com/news/local/en...,3802878.story

First wolf known to set paw in California since the very last one was killed by a trapper in Lassen forest in 1924. He's made his way into the North state all alone, leaving his pack in Northeatern Oregon in search of some better looking women. OR-7 (LA Times seems to have named him Journey) is currently hanging out in Shasta County somewhere. Shasta county is most famous for its high percentage of CUF participants.

OR-7 is alone and looking for a lady. Unfortunately for him, he's headed the wrong way. Fish and game won't release coordinates because they're afraid (and probably rightly so) that someone will kill him. But it's my hope that I'll catch a glimpse of the creature at our father/son campout in May.

This pic was captured by a trail camera in Southern Oregon, near where I grew up.

Looks like Journey may have to consider getting himself some coyote tail.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I'm going to be very disappointed if this thread doesn't draw Levin out of hiding.

OR-7 is not hanging out in a wolf friendly area of CA. Ranchers are already up in arms. Landpoke, do you happen to know if these are descendents of the wolves reintroduced in Yellowstone? I mean have those wolves made it all the way out to Oregon and then California now?

He should head down towards San Francisco. He will find plenty of friendly wolves there.

I imagine they're either from Canada or Idaho where they were reintroduced in the mid 90's.

                I don't think I can trust a Canadian wolf.

What needs to happen now is for a few females to be relocated from Idaho so they can start a family. It's only fair -- many of the libs from Cali were the biggest supporters of the wolf re-introduction in the Midwest.

Any of you touch that wolf, I will personally ensure the DOJ prosecutes you to the fullest extent of the law.

Let the return of the wolf continue. The land cries out for it.

Oh, and I would absolutely welcome a wolf pack for Rock Creek Park near where I live in DC. Bye-bye rodent deer that eat all my spring tulips!

Nah, a lone wolf on the prowl only goes to California for one reason: COUGARS!

                        Technically they're all canucks.

Well then one thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the wolves will soon be here. And I for one welcome our new wolf overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a trusted member of the community, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground caves.

I wasn't aware that wolves were not found in California.

I say blow them all away.

You think your deer are expensive to feed, try feeding a pack of wolves. Only an idiot chooses venison or elk over beef, and wolves ain't idiots.

BTW, Journey is a stupid name, and it is obviously the wrong one. This wolf's name is clearly McQuade.
