Interesting quote . . .Originally posted by U-Ute View Post. . . in light of the post immediately above yours. 50%, you say? Ryan's right there, right now.Romney's problem is that he has persistently failed to get himself over the 50 percent mark in national polls that he needs to win. He'll have to capture at least some of the middle to do that, including the broad mass of white, middle-class voters who depend on Medicare and other government programs. It's not clear that Paul Ryan, no matter how handsome and winning he may be as a personality, is the pick who's going to do that for him.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

My In-Laws were in attendance for that event in Zanesville, OH. We usually hit Tom's when we go through Zanesville to their place (But that doesn't happen often). Good Ice Cream. Signature thing is putting melted Marshmellow over the ice cream. Not too bad..Originally posted by Tex View PostA few more images today of conservatives trying to convince themselves:

Zanesville is interesting place. I would consider it Appalachia area. I know a few folks from that area.. Segregation is prevalent in the area even today.
You want to read about an interesting Fair Housing Law Suit. Google "Coal Run + Zanesville".. To think that a single street smackdab in the middle of this city still did not have running water up until the last few years is proof how backwards some of these small towns can be.. But I will say, there are families on this street that are bi-racial as well, but the law suit was based on discrimination of color against the city..
I know the lead attorney (He's from up near Akron and has a Fair Housing Agency he is the Executive Director for) for the families on that street (He brought in the Big Whigs to help since the city was stalling the whole negotiation process). Great guy and the documentary/video that was done is pretty cool..
Time did a article on this lawsuit..

I'm probably going to vote RomRy because I think they are somewhat serious about doing something about the deficit, not just pay it lip service like Bush. I just wish the party could get away from the platform of keeping the Mexicans out, keeping the gays from marrying, flooding the country with guns and warmongering under the guise of patriotism. Not only is it counter to my personal positions, it is a horrible long term strategy. The Hispanic population is growing fast, but not as fast as people's attitudes about homosexuality are shifting. Why the hell can't we have a viable political party that is fiscally responsible without being socially backwards?"In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. I'm completely with you, and if they start in that direction then I'll turn sour on them quickly. But I take Ryan's selection as a major signal that Mitt is all about the economy. I hope so anyway.Originally posted by DU Ute View PostToo bad the whole country isn't 84.4% white, they'd have this thing wrapped up.

Believe it or not, I am with you. Leave the social issues to the States. Doesn't belong in the national debate.Originally posted by DU Ute View PostToo bad the whole country isn't 84.4% white, they'd have this thing wrapped up.

It's clear that Romney and Ryan aren't interested in the social issues.Originally posted by DU Ute View PostToo bad the whole country isn't 84.4% white, they'd have this thing wrapped up.
