Douthat and Brooks, both with the NYT (though your parents should watch Brooks on PBS news) are both great conservatives. I also like David Frum, though he can come across as a bit shillish when it comes to some of the social conservative stuff, which he seems to defends out of a sense of obligation more than convictions (at least that is how it comes across to me). The NPR show Left Right and Center (where I learned about Frum) currently features Tony Blankley as their conservative, and I think he does a better job of representing his POV than Robert Scheer does representing the Left.

If your parents are abandoning Fox news, the PBS news hour is the best news program on television. Brooks represents the Right better than Shields represents the Left, so your conservative parents should enjoy watching Brooks mop up the studio with Shields. Plus, who needs more than an hour of news each day? PBS News Hour is perfect.

I am afraid you aren't gong to find many of the talk show folks or media guru's backing Romney. They all want a good long contest to jizz up their ratings.

Some of them of actually giddish over Newts pledge to tear Romney a new one in the upcoming debates.

Hewitt has been in the bag for Romney for quite a long time. I don't much listen to talk radio or watch Fox News, but it seems to me like there is a lot more anti-Newt sentiment than anti-Romney in the conservative blogosphere.

I gave up Fox News a long time ago. I don't watch any other TV news either. I read some National Review and other articles that pique my interest, usually through something I see on twitter.

Yeah Pops is a retired judge and sifting truth from BS is kind of what he does. There wasn't any convincing necessary.

Then I guess I am a bit puzzled by this entire thread (note your use of the word "convinced" in the thread title). If he has a well-tuned BS meter, then why has he been primarily relying on Fox News (as your intro post implies)? That should have caused his meter to redline on pretty much every broadcast. And why does he need any help finding an alternate right-slanted news outlet? What am I missing?

The news on Fox is fine. "Special Report," for example. The talking head shows are a waste of time.
