ahhhhhh snaggle tooth!
The idea that waxing is related to pedophilia isn't entirely preposterous, but sometimes women who aren't even having sex get brazilians because it's cleaner. Sexualizing something, though, is basically on point. Most of what women do to themselves is to appear more attractive.what I am is what I am and I does what I does.

True. I really do not think that any sort of fetish for per-pubescent females, or males for that matter, has increased the popularity of getting rid of all body hair. For women it has more to do with fashion. Face it, all those pioneer women to Utah had as hairy of legs and underarms as the men. Women did not shave when clothes covered everything. My understanding is that leg and underarm hair began to come off in the 1920s when fashion styles caused women to display more skin. An elegant dress with a plunging neckline or if it were backless did not seem to match underarms that resembled George Albert Smith's beard.Originally posted by HottieCoug View Postahhhhhh snaggle tooth!

Two trends have caused the demise of the rest of the secondary body hair. One was the mainstreaming of lingerie. Again, a skimpy g-string is not compatible with ...well, you know. The second trend was the mainstreaming of pornography, first through VHS and then the internet. Both men and women saw hairless women, and men, and this has greatly increased hair removal. In fact, a friend of mine recently got married and when she went to schedule her hair done the package for brides-to-be included full body hair removal.
So I think it is fashion that dictates this trend, nothing more.

Perhaps you should explain your hypothesis again. Fashion probably isn't the whole story, but at this point your idea doesn't even seem coherent. You seem to think that men who prefer little or no pubic hair are those who have a latent attraction to 15-19 year-olds, who... have pubic hair. Your logic simply doesn't follow. I'd also appreciate any insight into why clean-shaven men or women who shave their legs and pits aren't also the objects of ephebophilic lust.Originally posted by wuapinmon View Post

Porn has trends just like anything else, and I'm sure it won't be too long before some amount of hair comes back into style (some amount of hair has always existed in porn, by the way). Before the early 80s, women in porn didn't do any trimming at all, and it's only been in the last decade or so that complete removal became popular. Did it start in porn or did tastes change and porn followed? I doubt there's a way to tell. I assume that fashion dictates some of it, as the size of bikinis determines the need to get rid of at least that much hair, unless one thinks it's acceptable to have pubes visible. Even then, perhaps bikinis just follow hair removal trends?
I tend to be extremely skeptical of mormons blaming anything on porn, just as I laugh at mormons lately who characterize SDSU students as having lots of sex or U of U students as being alcoholics.1.Pubic hair is not just a biological accident that forces us to the waxing salon. It serves three critical functions. First, it protects the delicate vagina. Second, it serves as a reproductive billboard to alert potential mates that you are biologically (if not emotionally) prepared to procreate. And last, it's a pheromone carpet and traps the scents that lead potential mates to the promised land. So you might think twice before you shave it all off. It's there for a reason. Embrace it.What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

Certainly I'm all for considering the biological roots of things, but calling those three functions "critical", as if they remain as important today as they would have been in prehistory, is disingenuous at best. I would say that at least two of those functions have been completely obviated in modern society, and probably all three.Originally posted by marsupial View Post

I have a corduroy jacket I picked up from DI that has a big puckery crease-thing on the back... one of those things that you can run your fingers into. It occasionally opens up and looks obscene. I call it my 'Vajacket.'
