I will note that when I was in Venezuela I encountered a lot of people who liked Chavez. I am not a fan of his left-wing policies but I do respect that he does not want his country walked all over by elite Americans -- the same ones who trample the rights and opportunities of the average American citizen.
I wish him either a recovery or a peaceful transition to the next life.Comment

There are some among us on CUF that are actually battling cancer right now in the home and seeing it every day. Maybe not "cheering for cancer" isnt an effort to be PC but to be considerate of people that are your friends on this board, your love and concern for Venezuelan strangers notwithstanding.Originally posted by oxcoug View PostFitter. I'm not talking about strangers. From 2006-2008 my company did a lot of work with some Venezualan developers. We Skyped on a weekly basis for months, became friends, sent Christmas wishes, received Christmas cards.....
Anibal (this was the name of the lead developer) disappeared. He had been an outspoken critic of Chavez' and in mid-2008 he disappeared leaving behind 2 children.
