  • Occupy Cafe Rio

This guy, Dave is his name, was picketing on the corner of a busy intersection in Manassas, VA next to Cafe Rio. I don't know why he felt he needed to Occupy Cafe Rio, but hey, it's great we live in a country where people can do this.

I was grateful he did not try to block the entrance. I'm not sure I could have saved him from Super.

There is a Cafe Rio outside of Utah? Who'da thunk it? How wonderful it is to allow you to connect with your Mormon heritage without leaving home...

You wouldn't believe all the Utah plates on the cars outside that place.

We had one open up near our local REI, so I ended up trying it out. I must have looked puzzled by the menu, because the manager approached me to talk about it. Then, when I made a choice, he asked if this was my first time eating at Cafe Rio. I said it was, and then he shouted out, "First timer!" The whole kitchen staff stopped their work to honor my fast-food establishment choice with a shouty sounding song. I did like the burrito, but was overpriced.

Would I be asking for another vicious assault?

BTW, I don't think Cafe Rio is better than Chipotle. Side-by-side burritos, I'd pick Chipotle, with their yummy limed rice, every time. So it was probably my last visit to the Cafe Rio.

They are just different tastes, IMO. Sometimes Chipotle sounds better, sometimes Cafe Rio.

Btw, how can you claim Cafe Rio's burrito is over priced without claiming the same of Chipotle?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Because Chipotle was my baseline, and Rio cost me about three bucks more.

Please submit your receipts. I don't think it is that much more.

I ordered their steak burrito, wet, with a drink. Total came to about $12. The steak was one of their more expensive choices. At Chipotle, a burrito costs about $6, after tax. I don't think a drink is going to bring that up to $12. But I might just have to go eat at the two places again, to prove my point.

He should be protesting their food ...

Maybe it was the extra cost of making it a 'wet' burrito? I don't know, but it was a steak burrito, and a steak burrito only costs about $6 at Chipotle (where they don't serve it wet).

Wet?? I went when I was in Utah. But we like Chipotle better, mainly because of the lime rice as well. However Cafe Rio's Lime-Cilantro ranch dressing is beyond tasty...
