I've seen Krugman on the ABC Sunday Morning show and he has some very strange mannerisms. If one makes judgments based on mannerisms (and some, if not most people usually do), then there's something off about the guy.

There are many people that simply pick a political team and seem to fall in line with what the ideology dictates they should believe in. I've never really quite understood the nexus between being a fiscal conservative and being a bible thumper. But I've also never understood the alliance that existed between the northeast liberal wing of the Democratic party (Woodrow Wilson-FDR-JFK) and the southern democrats. Krugman picked a political and economic team and balanced thought escapes him far more than even most ideologues.

Some of his comments regarding the destruction of roads, buildings, bridges, etc. presenting an opportunity for economic stimulus are just downright bizarre. I just can't understand the mentality that it doesn't matter how money is spent as long as it is spent. Technology and automation have created massive amounts of wealth worldwide, and I think resources will usually naturally be funneled towards innovation. The frustrating thing about how a significant portion of tax money is spent is that it doesn't seem to be going in a direction that will add any wealth to the economy. At the same time, it takes money away from parties/forces that would naturally direct the capital towards innovation.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

It's super-derived for such tasks as considering more than two options, or even for breaking your lockstep with the crowd occasionally.

To indulge your silly riposte, I'm not familiar with the quote in question but if it is really as simple as you say it is, then I would condemn him as a vehemently as anyone else who uses war or other atrocities to further their influence over others.
      What a condescending post.

Again, I've never denied being partisan, yet you claim to not be partisan. Funny how most of your posts seem to be taking shots at my partisanship.

Has it ever occurred to that big brain of yours that, while I don't deny partisanship, I actually see both sides, but have come to the conclusion that I disagree with an opposing view precisely because I've considered both sides? Apparently not, as you're a partisan hack, just like me.

And yes, Emmanuel really did say that. It's not that difficult to find out about it if you make a bit of an effort to do some research.

But you see, I mostly don't care about politics. I had forgotten that Emmanuel even exists before you pointed to him assuming I would lick his boots. I'm no more likely to defend idiocy from him as I am from anyone else.

You're right though; I haven't given you enough credit. The reason why all your positions are perfectly in line with the tea party crowd is because you've carefully considered each one of them and have conveniently come to the same conclusions. That you haven't the slightest empathy or understanding of others' opinions on the issues is unimportant. I'm sorry I underestimated you.

While I'm being penitent, please forgive me for posting so extensively about you. A quick look at my posting history confirms that most of my posts are about you. I must have a secret crush.

If you think you've insulted me, you haven't. Condescending posts like this are more of a reflection of your ass hattery than mine.

Uh, congrats? Why do you think I would gain satisfaction from insulting you? I'm trying to help you to see how brainwashed you've been, in the hope that you'd begin thinking more clearly. Granted, the odds of that happening in any internet conversation are next to zero, which is why I find these exercises so pointless. I still find your response to be weird. Shall I assume that you get satisfaction from insulting others, since you seem to assume that I do?

Funny that you call me brainwashed. Whether you like it or not, we're two sides of the same coin.

And no, I don't get satisfaction from insulting others, unless you think I do, then I should look at it from your point of view and agree. Right?

Yes, I know you think we're two sides of the same coin. That was my original point. Because you're brainwashed and I pester you about it, you assume that I'm equally brainwashed. It doesn't occur to you that one can be annoyed by people who aren't self-reflective or rational in their beliefs regardless of what those beliefs are.

I'm not denying that I'm more "liberal" than you, but you won't find me mindlessly chanting the party line. I'm not a democrat and never have been, nor am I enamored with any liberal organizations. I'm equally annoyed by stupidity in all its forms, and equally delighted with rationality in all its forms, however rare it may be.
