Susan Powell Press Conference Thread - do the cops have anything?

My guess is no. I have a feeling this is hearsay the cops are going off of, and they're hoping Josh Powell will flinch and run away. Given that Josh Powell has stayed firm and is even talking to Washington news reporters, I think he's pretty comfortable knowing he disposed of the body somewhere other than Ely.

But damn Josh Powell and his father are pieces of crap! Did anyone else nearly vomit when they heard Josh Powell's dad say that he thinks Susan Powell "learned something from Elizabeth Smart and is hiding in plain site"? Wow, now not only is he trashing his murdered daughter-in-law, but also implying that Elizabeth Smart was "hiding".

For as many people in this community who are pro-war, pro death penalty, and love to watch "Dexter"...why hasn't anyone had the balls to off these douchebags?

I've often wondered what a wonderful world it would be if people would just take into their own hands the need to get rid of suspected criminals. Gus it looks like this world is just full of gutless law abiding people and it makes me sick also.

Do you happen to recall the recent case of murdered BYU prof in Payson? They had his son and DIL in custody for six months and based the information in the media, they looked as guilty as could be. Except it turned out that they were innocent and someone else confessed to the murder. Take a breather, Gus.

I don't recall much from that case, but were the falsely accused characterizing their murdered father as a slut? Regardless of whether Josh Powell and his father are guilty of murder, their behavior has been nothing short of repulsive, and seem to present a danger to society.

Kind of like idiots who believe in vigilante justice?

You're upset. We can tell. Repulsive behavior takes many forms, but presenting a danger to society smacks of Minority Report prejudice. My advice to you? Stop watching the news, and go fishing. or get drunk

Yes, exactly. I'm not saying I'd support vigilante justice, I'm just saying I'm surprised nothing has happened to these Powell jackasses given how many Utahns are following this story and do believe in vigilante justice.

The press conference was a total waste of time. Five detectives are wandering around near Ely going off a "tip". They have nothing new. The West Valley policeman who conducted the news conference is very worried about getting his uniform dirty, and will be changing his cloths. He will not alter his facial appearance, just his clothing, he can't get his uniform dirty. But reporters should be able to recognize him after he changes, he'll be wearing a blue shirt and tan pants, but won't alter his facial appearance.

Nonsense, we've learned some valuable info:

                          1. Sergeant in charge of the search is Mike Powell. Do you think they assigned him due to his last name?

                          2. Sgt. Mike Powell is extremely reluctant to commence searching in his dress blue uniform. However, his tan-pants-dark-shirt uniform is apparently designed for grubby mine shaft searching.

                          3. Sgt. Mike Powell is planning to change out of his dress blue uniform in 15 minutes.

                          4. Sgt. Mike Powell is planning on changing right next door to where the press conference is taking place.

                          5. The press is invited to tag along as the police search team drives to the mine shaft they were tipped on.

He is worried about getting his uniform dirty because they are going spelunking. That's actually important info. If they were going to be doing a surface search, he wouldn't be worried about a uniform.

My guess is that someone went into a mine shaft and thought they saw a corpse, and now they're going to officially investigate and retrieve the body.

It's more likely that somebody went into a mine shaft, saw some bones, and of course those bones have to be Susan Powell's so they call police. The bones will turn out to be coyote bones. At the very most, they'll actually be human bones, but will be from some unknown transient.
