Fox News is a lot like Dickie Greenleaf's friendship.
"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

That was great. But half those clips were from CNN, and some from other networks.

This is actually very frustrating for me. I like Ron Paul, and if it weren't for his gold standard nostalgia I would vote for him. He speaks to the fiscal conservative in me better than any republican ever has, like Stewart said, he was at the forefront of the whole tea party movement. It's time the tea party put its money where its mouth is. If they really believe in smaller government with better fiscal management and and emphasis on personal liberties, then there really is only one candidate.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

I feel the exact same way. Were it not for his gold standard mantra, he'd be the ideal candidate. I don't know why he hasn't gotten that piece of his puzzle straightened out yet. It's the only thing he says that truly makes me cringe.

At this point, I'd vote for Ron Paul over Obama. I'm sure there are plenty of disaffected Obama progressives like myself who would gladly trade stand-for-nothing Obama for Paul's agenda to get us out of the wars and legalize marijuana.

I've been a Ron Paul fan for years before most of you even heard of Ron Paul (thanks to my Bircher father in law...that's right, Paul has been the JBS's favorite congressman for YEARS). I like most of what he says, but I think he's too much of an ideologue when it comes to foreign policy. There's aggressive interventionism (Clinton, Bush) and then there's naive isolationism (Paul), I prefer something in between.

That was a great piece though, it is amazing how the establishment Republican party either ignores or marginalizes RP. It was even worse in 2008.

I was one in 2008 who laughed at him as Fox News essentially ignored him during the debates. I had no idea what he was talking about and equated him to an "odd little troll" who was nothing but a distraction. I was gunning hard for Romney at the time. Not this time. I've switched sides for sure. (But that damn gold standard mantra. Come on, Ron! You're SOOOO close!!!!)

The gold standard has advantages and disadvantages. It has served us very well and not so well at various times during our history. And so has our current system. The gold standard is not his nuttiest idea, IMO.

Well I am curious now. What is his nuttiest idea?

Add Obama to your list of aggressive interventionists. All he's done is continued what Bush started and added Libya, while making attacks in Pakistan's sovereign territory and bombing Yemen, etc.

As for Paul's "naive isolationism" I read a good point the other day. Paul was attacked in the debate for saying that Iran isn't getting a nuke, but even if they are, we should leave them alone.

It is presumed that all other candidates disagree with this. However, lets look at the facts and the policy of the other candidates.
                          • embargo and sanctions are ineffective deterrents
                          • single-site attacks in Iran will not do the job
                          • only aggressive military action can stop Iran
                          • North Korea and Pakistan are as unstable as Iran and have Nukes
                          • None of the other candidates propose attacking N Korea or Pakistan
                          • None of the candidates propose agressive military action against Iran

It is the policy of the other candidates that we do no stop Iran from getting nukes (because we aren't starting a war with them)
Paul's policy is the same, but his policy is based on principle.

So, maybe Paul's policy re: Iran isn't so radical.

If Ron Paul's foreign policy was so dangerous then why would this guy be endorsing him?
