  • I can't watch the news anymore

I majored in journalism. I used to read seven newspapers a day. Not to mention news mags.
But this economic stuff, and the tea party extremism, coupled with Murdoch hacking everyone's phones has me sick. Not to mention the ongoing wars.
Maybe it is depression but I can't follow current events like I used to. It makes me feel powerless and sad.

I was a poli-sci minor and I checked out years ago. Don't give a shit about what's going on, don't vote.

I used to be extremely interested in politics. Became jaded on that about 10 years ago. Can't stand politics now. They're all the same. They're all liars. But on the positive side, they're all incentivized to do what's best for America, and the system is good, so it works OK.

Maybe I need your attitude. I was a call your congressperson type guy. But it makes my gut turn when I think about the news. the famine in Somalia, terrorism, creepy Warren Jeffs. Corrupt politicians and crooked cops.

Looks like its not necessarily the news that bugs you, but the way it's being portrayed. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I used to watch FoxNews and I even new they had an incredible bias. I just watch them anymore. I don't watch any news anymore. Instead I read about it mostly in the Economist. I also love listening to NPR. I find both of these outlets to not only be great sources for news but their journalism is much better than mainstream news channels.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I used to read the economist and harper's regularly but haven't lately. my npr listening has dropped a ton too. that could be part of the problem. I'll never watch fox again, just because of murdoch, i won't piers morgan's show either because he was caught up in those shenanigans

My anxiety went down and my overall happiness went up after I stopped watching Fox and MSNBC. I used to love watching Beck and Maddow, but now I can't stand talking heads.

I stayed up until three o'clock watching the stupid futures and listening to guru's blow smoke up my butt. It didn't change anything. It would have been the same number at 6 this morning if I had gone to sleep at 11.
