OK, this will be my only "I'm witnessing conversations between smart and influential people set in an incredible picturesque and therapeutic natural setting in Aspen, with all kinds of delicious free and expensive fruit, fresh squeezed citrus juices, delicious pastries and all the Let's Be Frank hot dogs I can eat" post of the Aspen Ideas Festival.
Right now we're streaming a thing with Robert Rubin. He gave a talk and is now in conversation with Chrystia Freeland. After he sat down w/ Freeland the following exchange took place (some paraphrasing, but this is close).
Freeland: "I just want to point out that David Brooks is here standing against the wall and in a talk he gave earlier this week he addressed the desperate need for more people who will serve with integrity and humility in the public interest rather than in their own interest. He named five people who he believes measure up to that, and you are one."
Rubin: "Thanks David- where was I on the list?"
Brooks: "Right behind Donald Trump."
