Donald Trump, what a bunghole

I have followed the Donald since the 80's. I always thought he was mostly mouth and little substance. However, he is an example of how well someone can do if you just believe you are "great".

However, he is going to far. I don't mind the controversy when he is screaming at fellow promoters. I don't mind his going over the top on Rosey O'Donell. He is a show bizz person and therefor has leeway to say outlandish things.

Right now though he is attacking Ryan and Romney. He is claiming the Republican field is so bad that he might give up "all the money" he could make and get back in the Presidential race.

He isn't a republican. That small group of folks who are impressed with his bull crap will listen and it hurts the republican field. He is now self promoting and messing with the political process for his own gain. He is the republicans Anthony Weiner. I wish he would say he is a democrat and may run in the primaries against Obama.

That "competition" is just a big cool kids popularity contest. Like homecoming queen or something.

Little substance? He went to Wharton, built a massive real estate empire twice, and has branded himself a household name via self created media vehicles.

What would he have to do in your eyes to have more than "little" substance?

I'm not saying that I think he is a good candidate, but Trump strikes me as an extremely savvy businessman who is well educated and successful.

Trump is very savvy and very well connected in the mid-atlantic corridor. He also had a very nice bankroll to start with and the contacts to turn the bankroll into cash. I have met Donald and his then wife Ivana as well as Donald's very successful brother Robert. Robert was great. Donald was an arrogant ass. Ivana was almost the oddest person I've ever met.

Fair enough. My opinion here. He claims to be a republican and wants to do good for the country. Then he obviously goes about self promoting himself and while doing so tells untruths. He also trashes those who are actually running for President as republicans. Thus for his own selfish reasons he hurts the chances of the party he claims to be a part of to win the Presidency.

I see. So you are referring to his political substance. I can roll with that. He really has no traditional political experience, so that is a fair categorization.

What threw me is that you said you have "always" thought he was of little substance, which I inferred to include his entire career, not just his recent political misadventures.

Politically, I'm not sure why Trump doesn't start locally by running for NYC mayor or maybe even congress or the senate. I think he would stand a much better chance. As a President, he isn't even a viable candidate and is nothing more than a sideshow, IMO.

Let's add that IMHO his whole career he overhyped how awesome he was and has always shaded the truth. He has had some deals that were pretty crappy and lost money for a lot of people. Some of those had nothing to do with the economy but his very poor decisions. To hear him talk everything he has touched has turned to gold except in instance out of his control like the "economy".

Between you and I, there are many many business people I would rather be in business with than Donald. I think if he could he would screw you over in a heartbeat as his partner if he benefited. Plenty of business people are like that. I personally think they lack substance, maybe a better word is "strong ethics."
