I suggest you get guns and lots of ammunition. IN all the end of society movies I have seen, the bad people try to take stuff from the good people.

Also, that is why I always tell people I don't have food storage.

That brings up a question. Could you take water from a hot tub, boil it and then drink it?

Clean my guns and play a lot of acoustic guitar.

that depends on who owned the hot tub...

Just kidding. You can boil nearly any fresh water and drink it. With a bit of creativity you can build a still to distill seawater for drinking.

I am blessed with a great abundance of freshwater sources nearby, but in a SHTF situation I would probably put rain barrels on all of my downspouts and and if I had a swimming pool, I would jealously guard its precious water.

Boiling won't remove the chlorine. Depending upon how chlorinated the water is, it could be harmful and it would certainly smell and taste bad.

Better would be to distill it and then drink the distillate. Of course, distilled water tastes bad too because it doesn't have any minerals in it to flavor it.

Who would be the "bad guys" this time? It would be highly entertaining if the "bad guys" were from the federal government coming into a small town to put down a trifling little rebellion. Say the town started distributing medicinal marijuana to recently returned soldiers suffering from PTSD.

When it all goes down, Little Robin is welcome to stay on the ranch with the SJS family, while you try subsistence farming in South Central.

It's been filmed, but they made the Chinese the bad guys. Some people were worried about the real world implications of that, so the movie is in post production being converted to a Orth Korean enemy. The movie was partially filmed just a few miles from my house here n Michigan. This was maybe 18 months ago.

Lol, I was thinking more about vegetables, but now that you think of it, that kind of green might be the money of the apocalypse.

It's a theoretically possible process, but current evidence says that the length of the process is infinite. No new plants have come online in 30 (?) years. A few plants have made 'progress' toward actual operation, but none have gotten there.

It's a total farce to say that it's possible to build a nuclear plant in the US today...
